The suspect is locking failed and door could not be locked.
The locking device was replaced. The price of locking is about 15 USD. There are Youtube videos on how to replace the locking device, so it should be eazy to replace it.
The machine is now fixed. But if you curious about what inside the locking device, here are some picture of the breakdown device
Start from the left side.
The cover can be lifted.
Bend the lid to slide metal part. Some care needed during sliding the metal part. Spring may make the effort a bit difficult.
Remove the top cover.
Some rough drawing about internal electronics.
It was found that rust lead to bad contact and weakening bi-metal causing the locking failed. For rust, you may be able to clean it and make the device works again. But for bi-metal, it will be hard to repair it.
So, for 15 USD, it should be OK to go. The device has been working for the last 10 years ..
